Not that I am bragging or anything…especially since Jesus had very clear words about whether we should make it obvious that we are fasting (“And when you fast, don’t make it obvious, as the hypocrites do, for they try to look miserable and disheveled so people will admire them for their fasting. I tell you the truth, that is the only reward they will ever get.” [youversion]Matthew 6:16[/youversion]). I am really just trying to show support for those of you who may be joining us for this 40 days of fasting and prayer, and who may not have ever attempted something like this before, and so I say again…”Tomorrow we Fast!” If you are interested in Joining us, there is a link from the church’s website to the “suggested fasting schedule for the Floyd Church”. Let me emphasize again that this schedule isn’t set in stone, but rather is designed to be a starting point for those who may not have ever done this before. I personally am looking forward to it, and expect great thngs to happen, as we seek to deepen our walk with God, and focus our attention on his will and plan for our lives.
If you haven’t made any plans to establish better habits of discipline in your walk with God this Lenton season, then I challenge you to give it some thought. There are many resources available that can help you develop or deepen your habits of daily devotion, especially this time of year. If you need some Guidance I would be happy to recomend some resources.
