From My Devotions

“All I do ought to be founded on a perfect oneness with Him, not on a self-willed determination to be godly. This will mean that I can be easily put upon, easily over-reached, easily ignored; but if I submit to it for His sake, I prevent Jesus Christ being persecuted.”*

These words from Oswald Chambers this morning speak to me as I think about my own ambitions to be godly.  How often do I decide that it is my own strength that allows me to live for Christ, and maintain a standard of holiness?  Even though I know I am not perfect I am often tempted to take credit for the successes that I do have.  I need to understand Daily that it is not by my resolve that I am able to live a holy life, nor will it ever be…it is only by the Spirit living in me that I am able to resonate with the holiness of the one who created me.  As His holiness begins to resonate in my life, then all that is not resonating with him will fall away, and I will be left only with that which glorifies and honors the God who loves me.
