Sunday as we kicked off our Fearless Series at our outdoor service I was a little nervous because part of my plan was to give people opportunity to share some of the fears that God had helped them to overcome. Whenever you do open mic, you are never quite sure who, if anyone will speak, and what they will say. I am pleased to announce that it was awesome to see people share some of the very real fears that God had helped them to face. People shared all kinds of fears such as a Grandma who had to overcome a fear of heights to enjoy life with her grand kids in Colorado, a soldier home on leave who had to face his fear of active combat in Iraq, a soldiers wife who had sent her husband to war many times, several who faced cancer, and others who feared public speaking or singing. It was neat to see God open up hearts for people to share and others to listen and be encouraged.
Sunday we will actually be looking at the theme of the first chapter of the Fearless book which is ” Why are we Afraid”. 2 Timothy 1:7 (Look it up…I’m not going to do everything for you:-) is a good verse to look at as you prepare, and you can either read the chapter ahead of time or save it for next week as you ponder what is said in worship. This blog will hopefully become a place for folks to share thoughts about what God is telling them as we study together. Feel free to comment or post, and I will do my best to approve the comments quickly (sorry we have to do that, but the site would fill with spam if we didn’t).
Thanks to everyone who shared and took part last Sunday Together we will trust more and fear less!
