Session 3 Less Clutter Less Noise. Communications
We tend to push our agenda on others, and create clutter when we overestimate what we have to say and underestimate the effect it will have on others.
-
Check your ego – Do I care more about what I have to say than I do about the person I am saying it to.
-
We think that the big problem in the church is…
- Unwilling to change
- Lacks commitment
- Won’t listen
- We need to work harder to help them get it…not just complain that they don’t.
-
Not send the right message but release the right response
- The value we provide decreases in direct proportion to how hard we make it for people to do what they need to do.
- Don’t blast information or content at them, but make a connection that makes them want to respond.
- We need to spend more time thinking about how they will respond that we do on what we will say
-
-
Do I need an image consultant
- Who do you have that can tell you the truth about how you are coming across?
- Everyone needs an extra set of eyes
-
Keep it simple
- Are we adding to the confusion of people’s lives or are we the solution that claim to be.
- When people are bombarded they only pay attention to what matters in that moment.
- Google awareness test video moon walking bear
- Too much choice =paralysis
- Vanguard mutual fund example…for every 10 funds 5% less participation
- Jesus – Love God Love others, that’s it.
- Instead of Job descriptions “at the end of the day, If I did this then I have don my job”
- Sharpen focus to the essential
What’s more important getting the word out or getting through?
Boy did I choose the right conference…finally somebody is saying what I have always felt…I mean other than me. The response we get is the important point not just what we say. “If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels and have not love…”
