I am so pleased to announce that the Eckmans will be “home for Christmas”!!! We now have a house, and as we unpack boxes and rearrange all of the collected mess that we moved here from Midland, it is quickly becoming a home.
Home is a great concept. Home is more than just a place to go after you finish going everywhere else. It isn’t just where you eat and sleep. Home is that place where you reset….reboot….and prepare to face another day. Home is a place where there is a comfortable chair, a family that loves you, and at times, a little peace and quiet in a very busy world. Its a fire in the fireplace and a cup of coffee (or hot chocolate) on a cold winters night. Home isn’t always quiet and peaceful. At times there are chores to be done, dishes to wash, lawns to mow, children to silence (wait, did I say that out loud?!?), toilets to unclog, and right now…Boxes to unpack. Still Home is where many of the most important moments of our lives happen. Its where our kids take their first steps, say their first word (“momma” of course), and lose their first tooth. Its where many of life’s most important lessons are learned, and relationships are built that will tie us together for life. Life happens at Home!
The most important thing about Life at Home is who you share it with. I am blessed beyond measure to have my wife, and my children sharing life with me as we settle into this new home. It has been harder on some of my kids than others, but they have been helpful and supportive…for the most part ;-) …and they, more than anything else, will make our new house a home filled with Life!
As thanksgiving arrives and the madness (wonderful madness, but madness nonetheless) of Christmas begins, it will be our joy to make new memories in our new house, which I pray will very quickly become our home. So we will be “home for Christmas”, and it will be our privilege to celebrate the birth of the Savior, and his continued presence in our hearts and our home, this Christmas.
