I finally finished the shack and found that most of the book was a refresshing affirmation of what I believe to be true about God, even though it didn’t meet up perfectly with what I was taught in Sunday School. There are certainly some parts that are open to interpretation, and could be taken in a way that would violate scripture, but it is after all, a work of fiction. As a thought starter, the book is phenominal, and made me want to draw closer to my heavenly father, love my wife better, be a better father to my children, and turn my church into the kind of place that welcomes people in and shares the love of God with them without concern for who they are or where they come from. Overall I would say that that’s a pretty good outcome from a book that many have found offensive. I am looking forward to the dialogue that will come from others that have read the book, and would welcome the notion of a study group if there is enough interest. If you haven’t read it yet I highly recomend it. for more info go to www.theshackbook.com or go to the link to christian book distrubuters from the church web site and buy it there so that the church will get 10% back from your purchase!
Hi Jeff, I really enjoyed “The Shack”. I found the idea of taking God out of our boxes was refreshing. I would love to be part of a dialouge with you as you study the concepts of the book. Blessings…Pastor Josh
I am fully convinced that God doesn’t like boxes! Great to hear from you – PJ
My father-in-law is currently reading this book so I will have to borrow it from him per your reccomendation. Thanks, Pam
